Jon is a graduate of Princeton University. After obtaining his M.D. degree at New York University School of Medicine, he interned at Los Angeles County Hospital and did his residency training at Stanford University. After his residency, he opened a private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Palo Alto, California.

In 2005, Jon founded Viveve Corporation (FKA TivaMed), a women’s health medical-device company (NASDAQ – VIVE), and was its initial CEO.
Jon is retired from his medical practice and is no longer affiliated with Viveve. He continues to work as a consultant and manage the two Swan Venture fund-of-funds.
